This website does not use forms, tracking cookies or analytics. We hold personal data in two situations:
To answer your enquiry, to carry out work you instruct us to do, to check for conflicts of interest before accepting an instruction, and to meet our legal and professional obligations. Our lawful bases are performance of a contract and our legitimate interests in running a consultancy practice and defending our own position where work is later disputed.
Enquiries that do not lead to instructions: retention period. Records of instructed work: retained for at least the period in which a claim could be brought in relation to it, and longer where a matter is in dispute. Our reports are frequently relied on years after they are issued, which is the main reason we keep them.
We do not sell or trade personal data. We share it only where it is necessary to carry out an instruction or where we are required to: with others involved in the matter where you have asked us to deal with them, with our professional indemnity insurers or legal advisers if a claim arises, and with the IT and email providers that host our systems on our behalf.
On systems operated by email and file storage providers within the UK or the European Economic Area, or under transfer safeguards where a provider operates elsewhere.
You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we are using it, or ask us to restrict our use of it. Email us and we will respond within one month. Some information we are obliged to keep — particularly records of work we have carried out — and we will explain if that applies.
This site sets no cookies and does not track you. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
